Winter Skiing Tour to Georgia is the perfect way to infuse those dreary midwinter days with anticipation, excitement and unrivaled beauty. This weeklong escape begins with a guided introduction to Georgia’s most important landmarks in Tbilisi, Mtskheta and Borjomi, followed by several days of skiing, socializing and sporting activities at Georgia’s most renowned winter getaways, Gudauri and Bakuriani Ski Resorts.
Gudauri Ski Resort, covering an area of 50 kilometers across the slopes of the Greater Caucasus, is Georgia’s largest functioning ski resort, offering amazing slopes and freeride ski terrain suitable for every level of difficulty. Experienced skiers will appreciate Mount Sadzele, which at 3250 meters is the highest point on the premises. Bakuriani Ski Resort is equally noteworthy as the former training ground for many of Georgia’s winter Olympic athletes which has also welcomed local and international vacationers to its slopes for decades.

Arrive in Tbilisi, the Georgian capital. Transfer to the hotel, where check-in begins at noon, and have a guided walking tour around Old Tbilisi. Your private tour will include:

  • Visit to Metekhi Church (13th century), a medieval structure on the brink of the Kura (Mtkvari) River and guarded by a statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, who allegedly wielded a 16-kilogram sword during his lifetime.
  • Pass through Rike Park and take a cable car up to Narikala Fortress (4th century), Georgia’s oldest citadel and the best spot for a panoramic view of the city and the botanical gardens. Nearby stands the 20-meter-high statue of Kartlis Deda , also known as the Mother of Georgia.
  • Continue wandering through Old Tbilisi. On the way pass Jumah Mosque, one of the few mosques in the world that holds services for both Shia and Sunni Muslims.
  • Discover the quaint and picturesque Bridge of Lovers near the cooling waters of the 22-meter-high Legvtakhevi Waterfall.
  • Continue through the historic Abanotubani District, passing by the famous Tbilisi Sulfur Baths which, at least in legend, are closely tied with the city’s founding.
  • Exit Tbilisi Old Town and stroll along Jan Shardeni Street (Jean Chardin), an area filled with cozy coffee shops, wine tasting bars and souvenir stores.
  • Enter Sioni Cathedral (7th century) to admire its jaw-dropping interior of gold and turquoise frescoes.
  • Take a photo near the cartoonish Leaning Clock Tower of Tbilisi, which marks the site of the city’s famous Reza Gabriadze Puppet Theater.
  • Stand in awe of Anchiskhati Basilica Church (6th century), a Georgian Orthodox Cathedral and the oldest house of worship in Tbilisi.
  • Walk across the Bridge of Peace, which spans the Kura River into Rike Park. Built in 2010, the Bridge of Peace stretches for 155 meters and was designed by renowned architect Michele De Lucchi.
If you wish, continue exploring Rike Park or Old Tbilisi on your own. Overnight at the hotel in Tbilisi.
