Description
The Georgia Ski Tour is a burst of adrenaline in the heart of the Caucasus. Travel through history at Jvari Orthodox Monastery, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Borjomi Central Park on your way to the winter paradise of Bakuriani Ski Resort, where you’ll enjoy unlimited access to the finest slopes in the country to ski, snowboard, explore nature and create memories to last a lifetime.
Bakuriani Ski Resort has remained one of Georgia’s most popular winter destinations for decades, and anyone who has experienced its exhilarating slopes and unearthly beauty can easily attest why. Families, carefree vacationers and Olympic skiers alike can appreciate the resort’s two dozen pistes for all difficulty levels, not to mention the paragliding, ice skating, snowmobiling, snowboarding and numerous entertainment options available to guests.
Program
In the morning, drive from Tbilisi to Mtskheta (25km, 30min), ancient capital of Iberia and a holy pilgrimage site for most Georgians. In Mtskheta you will visit:
- Jvari Orthodox Monastery (6th century), a unique remnant of the early Georgian church built at the top of a hill. The church overlooks the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi Rivers and amazes its visitors with simple yet beautiful facades.
- Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), where one of the holiest items of the orthodox Christian world - the seamless robe, or chiton, worn by Jesus Christ at crucifixion - is believed to be buried. Admire its stunning architecture and moving frescoes as you learn the various legends connected with the church.
- Take a walk on the lovely streets of Mtskheta to admire the homes and balconies or shop for Georgia’s famous national sweet, churchkhela.
Drive to the famous Bakuriani Ski Resort (25km, 40min), situated at an elevation of 1700 meters above sea level in Samtskhe-Javakheti Region. Free time at the resort for remainder of the day for relaxation amidst the panoramic mountain view. Overnight at the hotel in Bakuriani. Meals Provided: none
Return to the hotel in the evening for some rest before enjoying Bakuriani nightlife. Overnight at the hotel in Bakuriani.

Drive back to Tbilisi in late afternoon (190km, 3hrs). End of Georgia Ski Tour.

Tour: Chimgan and Charvak Day Tour →We did indeed arrive home safely from this wonderful adventure. It was a truly beautiful trip! Everything was so special: the culture and nature. You realize how little you know about that rich history. The trip went smoothly. The arrangements were kept. In Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the tour operator (the day before) promptly sent me an app telling me what time we would be picked up or dropped off. Everything was accurate. Credit card payments aren't accepted on the train ride through Kazakhstan.
