With all that there is to see in Uzbekistan, why take a tour to Shakhrisabz? Shakhrisabz is the birthplace of the warrior-ruler Tamerlane and a city that still bears the marks of the various cultures that influenced it historically – Persian kings, Alexander the Great, Arab invaders, Tamerlane. It also happens to be one of the most picturesque cities in all Uzbekistan, yet relatively few tourists make the extra trip from Samarkand to see this historical city.
On our tours to Shakhrisabz, you will see the Ak-Saray Palace (former residence of Tamerlane) as well as other sights included in the UNESCO World Heritage List: the Dor-ut Tilovat Memorial Complex, the Kok-Gumbaz Mosque, the Dor-si Siadat Mausoleum, Shamsad-Din Kulal and Gumbazi-Seyidan. Shahrisabz is also famous for its handwoven products, the production of national doppis (skullcaps) and international award-winning, locally produced wines.
