Shahdag Ski Tour is the winter getaway you’ve been craving, an overnight stay at Azerbaijan’s fully equipped Shahdag Ski Resort. Enjoy the facility’s 14 ski slopes and diverse family entertainment options in the heart of the Greater Caucasus. This tour package also includes transport to and from the capital, a tour of Old Baku and a visit to the naturally formed Besh Barmag Dag.
Shahdag National Park is hailed as one of Azerbaijan’s most beautiful regions, defined by the regal Mount Shahdag, or King’s Mountain, and its surrounding Greater Caucasus peaks. Wintertime transforms Shahdag Mountain Resort into a skier’s paradise, with slopes ranging from altitudes of 1400 to 2400 meters available for skiers of every level and ski rental shops offering a wide range of equipment.

Day 1Baku

Arrive in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. You’ll be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel, where check-in begins at noon.
Take a private, guided walking tour around Old Baku (Icheri Sheher) to the following sites:

  • Maiden Tower (date unconfirmed), an ancient fortress believed to have once been a fire temple, it is now a city symbol which affords a great view of Baku from the top.
  • Palace of the Shirvanshahs (15th century), a UNESCO ensemble and Azerbaijan’s finest example of medieval architecture, it includes a mosque, bathhouse and entrance gates.
  • Multani Caravanserai (15th century), built as a haven for Indian merchants and fire worshipers hailing from the city of Multan in present-day Pakistan.
  • Juma Mosque (12th century, rebuilt 1899), defined by intricate stone carvings and an adjacent 14th-century minaret, it was constructed on the site of a Zoroastrian temple.
  • Market Square (17th century), a plaza filled with winding streets and shops selling carpets, souvenirs and antiques.

Day 2Baku – Shahdag Mountain Resort
In the morning, transfer to Shahdag Mountain Resort and National Park in Qusar Region, located in the Greater Caucasian Range (210km, 3hrs). On the way, stop at Besh Barmag Dag (Five-Finger Mountain), a local holy site whose jagged cliffs resemble five fingers.
Arrive in Shahdag to begin a half day of skiing in this large and spectacular resort. Admire the incredible mountain views as you descend the slopes and enjoy some rest in the evening.

Note: Additional entertainment, including paintball, a zip line, horseback riding, children’s entertainment center, a shooting range and an ice rink are available to guests at small additional charges.
Day 3Shahdag – Baku
After breakfast, continue skiing in the morning. Depart Shahdag in the afternoon to return to Baku. Upon arrival, you’ll be dropped off at the airport or at your hotel. End of Shahdag Ski Tour.

Note: Ski season lasts from mid-December through the end of March.
