Description
Baysun Wellness Tour is a 2-day getaway into one of the most gorgeous regions of Uzbekistan. Hop on the overnight train in Tashkent and disembark the next morning in a calming mountain landscape where time has seemingly stood still. Your tour will include cultural and craft workshops in Baysun village, hiking and a picnic near a mountain spring and a visit to Omonkhona Health Resort, renowned for its natural mineral waters.
Baysun and the surrounding Hissar Mountains are noted for their striking natural beauty and temperate weather. Nearby historical enclaves include Derbent Canyon, once a significant caravan passage between the ancient Greek satrapies of Bactria and Sogdiana, and Iron Gate Gorge. Red Canyon and Baysun Forest offer natural diversity, and even Sezam Cave of Ali-Baba and the Forty Thieves is purportedly located nearby!
Program
Begin your discovery of Surkhandarya Region with a drive to Derbent (Derbent) Grand Canyon (40 km, 50 min). You will pass through the Baysuntau and Hissar (Gissar) mountain ranges and Iron Gate Gorge, which according to 7th-century Chinese traveler Xuan Tzang was once guarded with wooden gates that were coated with iron and covered with bells. Stop at Xo’ja Mayxona Spring for a picnic, light hiking and a rest.
In the afternoon, drive to Kyzyl (Red) Canyon (50 km, 1 hr), where you can enjoy the great outdoors and plenty of photo opps.
Return to Baysun village. Overnight at the hotel in Baysun.
Continue to Baysun Forest and Padang village (20km, 30 min). On the way, stop at the Zovboshi mountain area, where you can walk to the top of a peak to enjoy a breathtaking landscape.
Drive to Omonkhona (40 km, 50 min), a mountain health resort with a natural mineral spring believed to have curative properties. Visit the nearby grave of Saint Hodja Sultan Vali before returning to Baysun village (25 km, 35 min).
Transfer to the train station for the overnight train to Tashkent, departing Baysun at 20:30. Overnight in 4-berth compartments. At 08:15 the next morning you will arrive in Tashkent, where a driver will pick you up from the station for transfer to your hotel. End of Baysun Wellness Tour.

Tour: Chimgan and Charvak Day Tour →We did indeed arrive home safely from this wonderful adventure. It was a truly beautiful trip! Everything was so special: the culture and nature. You realize how little you know about that rich history. The trip went smoothly. The arrangements were kept. In Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the tour operator (the day before) promptly sent me an app telling me what time we would be picked up or dropped off. Everything was accurate. Credit card payments aren't accepted on the train ride through Kazakhstan.
