The two-day tour to the eastern Nuratau Mountains offers you the beauties of rural life and local nature. It will give you the opportunity to take a break from the hustle of city life, enjoying mountain pastures and calmness of the Lake Aydarkul, stretching beyond the horizon.
Start a journey at Samarkand, visit the village of Sayyod, take a walk in the mountains, and the next day go to Lake Aydarkul. In early fall, this huge lake serves as a stopover for migratory birds. At the end of the tour, you will go to Jizzakh, and from there to Tashkent by train.
The Mountain village hiking and Yurt camp tour is a great opportunity to add a journey to nature to your transfer from Samarkand to Tashkent. These two days, spent in nature, will enable you to rest and look closer at the life of Uzbekistan. This tour is ideal for travelers who love natural beauty and privacy.

Day 1Samarkand – Mountain village/Yurt camp
After breakfast your driver will pick you up from the hotel and transfer to yurt camp at 09:00 (180 km, 3 h).
Arrive in a mountain village with a picturesque surrounding and go to yurt camp. Camp has 11 traditionally decorated yurts, outdoor swimming pool and nice kitchen. There are several activities like exploring the Nuratau Mountains on light hiking.
Take a 3-4 hours (6 km) hike to the mountain with a local mountain guide. The hike offers picturesque views of Nuratau Mountains and Lake Aydarkul, reaching the highest point. You will have a picnic lunch. Return from a different route to camp. After the tour, you may enjoy the swimming pool. In the evening, enjoy dinner and in the fireplace in the camp.

Day 2Yurt camp – Aydarkul lake – Jizzakh – Tashkent
Early morning, watch the sunrise in fresh air, and have breakfast. Free time. If you are interested in local life, you may visit the nearby village Sayyod (yourself). Have a lunch and transfer to Aydarkul by car (30 km). Walk along the lake shore, you can swim if you wish. Adjacent wetlands are habitat types that cover extensive areas of the region. It is an important breeding, resting, and wintering area for more than a hundred species of birds. After that, the driver will transfer to Jizzakh Railway station (80km, 1h 30min.). You will take your train to Tashkent (17:30 - 19:00). End of Mountain village hiking and Yurt camp Tour.

  • Transfers from Samarkand to yurt camp and next day to Jizzakh via Aydarkul;
  • Accommodation in a yurt camp, shared room (1 night);
  • Meals: picnic lunch, dinner (Day 1), breakfast, lunch (Day 2);
  • Hiking with local mountain guide in the Nuratau Mountains (day 1);
  • Train ticket from Jizzakh to Tashkent, economy class.

Notes:

  • Tour available from mid of April until mid of October.
  • We can reverse the program if you want to start from Tashkent and finish in Samarkand.

Optional Activities:

  • We offer to take part in the traditional cooking classes, which may take around 4 hours (includes market visit, instruction from a chef, all ingredients, the preparation of a main dish and a dessert). Taking part in the hands-on cooking classes you will master your skills of preparing your favorite Uzbek dish (plov, shashlik, manti, etc.). Price 45 USD per person.
