Description
Let the Konorchek Canyon Day Hike be your ticket to an unforgettable expedition into this unique arm of Kyrgyzstan’s Tian Shan Mountains. A guide will lead you into the Boom Gorge, through narrow passageways and over rocky trails that end in a spectacular view of the Eolian Castles. A convenient 2-hour trip from the capital, this bewitching mountain gorge is an ideal destination for all travelers, from experienced trekkers to novice hikers.
Program
Tour Itinerary:
In the morning, depart Bishkek with your guide and driver for Konorchek Canyon (130km, 2hrs) via the A365 Highway.
The hike begins in Boom Gorge at the Red Bridge, which arches over the Chu River. Your two-hour hike (one-way) winds through a maze of rocks and red sandstone columns that stretch for miles. The trail provides ample photo opportunities and has many fun twists and turns.
Follow a river through the narrow gorge until you reach a small plateau, from which you’ll have a sweeping view of the red-earth Eolian Castles. Enjoy a picnic lunch and a time of rest, admiring the striking beauty of the cliffs, before beginning the return trek.
Return to Red Bridge and drive back to Bishkek. End of Konorchek Canyon Day Hike.
Tour duration: 8-9 hours
Note: Please bring a hat, trekking boots, sunglasses, and water flask. This tour is available from May to October.

You realize how little you know about that rich history. The trip went smoothly. The arrangements were kept. In Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the tour operator (the day before) promptly sent me an app telling me what time we would be picked up or dropped off. Everything was accurate. Credit card payments aren't accepted on the train ride through Kazakhstan.
