Charyn Canyon Day Tour (from Almaty)
Charyn Canyon National Park is one of Kazakhstan’s finest natural monuments that will leave you astonished at the creativity and inventiveness seen in nature. Charyn Canyon’s ruggedly beautiful ridges and diverse geological features include the amazing Castles Valley, created through wind and water erosion over the course of centuries, plus numerous ravines and gullies that stretch for more than two kilometers to create a picturesque destination for hiking and exploration.
The Charyn Canyon Day Tour will take you on a wonderful adventure to a ‘city’ whose streets and architecture are comprised of the unique landscape of age-old sedimentary rocks. Join us on a daylong journey of sightseeing on Charyn’s ‘streets’ of rustic valley trails intersected by the turbulent Charyn River, with the stunning Castles Valley at this earthen city’s center. This tour includes a private guide, driver and a picnic lunch.
You will be met by your guide and driver at the lobby of your Almaty hotel to start the Charyn Canyon Tour.
Depart Almaty and drive to Charyn Canyon (220km, 3-4hrs). On the way, enjoy the view of the passing Altai Mountains and villages as your guide regales you with stories of Charyn Canyon region.
Upon arrival, hike to the bottom of the gorge to see the roaring Charyn River. Have a rest and a picnic lunch while your guide shares more information about the nature surrounding you. Hike through Charyn Canyon, where steep mountain slopes reach up to 300 meters and the stunning Castles Valley runs more than 2 kilometers in length. Spend the afternoon walking about this fairytale land, basking in the miracle of nature as you wander its ridges and bypaths.
After the hike, drive back to your Almaty hotel. End of Charyn Canyon Day Tour.
