Day 1. Arrival in Baykonur. Accommodation at Cosmonaut ** hotel, in rooms where cosmonauts have stayed. Dinner in a cafe, also visited by cosmonauts. Night at the hotel.
Day 2. Breakfast. Beginning of excursion to Baykonur cosmodrome. Departure from the hotel at 08.00 a.m., stop at check point where passports and visit permits will be checked by Russian police; at the entrance to the cosmodrome there is another check point. From here unique buildings are seen to the left and right. Most of those buildings can be seen at Baykonur only. After document check we proceed to the launch complex "Proton" (55 km, 1 hour).
Tour of "Proton". More than 100 "Proton" launches have occurred over the years. Another check point and drive to the universal launch complex of the "Energia" (Energy) rocket. Tour of the launch pad of the legendary heavy rocket "Energia" and space shuttle "Buran". Those who wish may ride up to the observation platform, sitting at a height of 80 m - the cosmodrome and Baykonur steppe are perfectly seen from there. Transfer by car to the test complex of the carrier-rocket "Soyuz". In the eighties, the "Energia - Buran" complex was built there. Transfer to space shuttle "Buran", which stands under the open sky. Here we can see one of the "Burans". There were four "Buran" space shuttles built for that program. Transfer for lunch in a cozy cafe where presentations and parties are held after successful launches and returns of cosmonauts.
After lunch, drive to Gagarin's Start, which is also called ground 1 (8 km, 20 minutes). After the 108-minute flight of Gagarin on April 12, 1960, the name of the site remained "Gagarin's Start". Tour of the launch pad and monument to the first artificial Earth satellite. On the 21st of August, 1957, the first artificial Earth satellite was delivered to orbit by R-7, the first intercontinental ballistic missile. Picture taking on the ladder of the launch complex. By September 2004, more than 420 launches of various spacecraft had been carried out from Gagarin's start. More than 100 people have launched into space from here. Transfer to the museum of the Baykonur cosmodrome (1 km, 10 minutes). Tour of the museum: models of different spacecraft, personal items of Y. Gagarin and S. Korolev, space food, computers of the 1950's, all presents to the museum. After excursion, tour of the memorial house of Yuryi Gagarin and his alternate German Titov, where they stayed the night before the launch. Tour of the memorial house of rocket designer Sergey Korolev. Transfer to the launch complex "Zenit", tour of complex. More than 30 different launches were carried out there. Return to Baykonur city (50 km, 40 minutes). Rest at hotel. Dinner at hotel cafe. After dinner, we will watch the movie "White sun of the desert". Night at "Cosmonaut" ** hotel.
Day 3. Walk along the alley of cosmonauts near the hotel, visit to the sports center of cosmonaut training. Tour of Baykonur city: city museum of cosmodrome history, monuments to pioneers, Yuriy Gagarin, Academic Yangel, General Shubnikov (head of Baykonur city construction), General Nedelin. Monuments to the "Soyuz" or R-7 space ship, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Gagarin's start. Visit to the international space school, city square, and Gagarin's summerhouse on the Syr-Darya River. Lunch and dinner at a local cafe. Night at the "Cosmonaut" ** hotel.
Day 4. Breakfast. Departure from Baykonur.
