British Airways in Uzbekistan
Description of operations, services and timetable

Uzbekistan operation of British Airways began in April 2003 with three flights a week between Tashkent and London Heathrow, which puts passengers in the hub of worldwide network of British Airways and their partners in the oneworld alliance.

Service between Tashkent and London is operated by BMED, British Airways' sole longhaul independent franchise partner, and offers Club World (business class) and World Traveller (economy class) cabins using Airbus A321 aircraft.

There are four key elements that differentiate British Airways from other competitors.

The first would be the quality of products. British Airways is the first airline to offer a completely flat bed in business class on longhaul routes, and continues to invest in their products and services.

Second, our people, who strive to deliver world class service.

Third is the global route network, which takes business and leisure travellers to their destinations at convenient times of the day to fit their busy schedules, and last, but not least, British Airways offers "more beds, more places, more often" and has around 6000 flat beds in its long haul fleet of more than 100 longhaul aircraft, which is the largest number of flat beds of any airline in the world.

The policy of British Airways is to continually strive for improvements in service and products on the ground and in the air, as well as in the schedule to ensure smooth travel to and from all the markets which British Airways covers.

In Central Asia British Airways also flies to Almaty, Kazakhstan and Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, three times a week.

BA franchise partner, BMED, using A321 aircraft, operates this route.

British Airways offers Club World (business) and World Traveller (economy) classes on the route between Uzbekistan and London Heathrow.

Passengers in Club World can enjoy the comfort of the ergonomically designed 'Cradle Seat' and in-flight entertainment delivered by personal video screens and audio channels. The 'Cradle Seat' was designed by biomechanical specialists with a unique tilting mechanism and neck and lumbar supports to offer the highest Standards of in-flight comfort.

Passengers in World Traveller can enjoy films delivered by overhead screens and personal audio channels.

To passengers traveling from London across the North Atlantic and to other longhaul destinations, British Airways is the only airline to offer four class categories:

FIRST is at the very top of the range; then the recently improved Club World featuring the first full flat bed on a business class; World Traveller Plus, the fourth class providing significantly more legroom and enhanced service; and World Traveller.

On the ground at London Heathrow Terminal 4, the facilities match everything in the air.

British Airways' new terraces lounge concept offers customers using its departure and arrivals lounges the opportunity to make use of the Molton Brown Spa, a business center, sanctuary room and gym.

Innovations that British Airways provides to their customers:

British Airways is simplifying the airline business and putting the customer in control by leading the way in the online revolution with its website

In 2003, the airline created a new program that is about improving the range of technology available to customers and reducing the amount of complexity involved in booking an airline ticket.

This program has increased the number of customers around the world who choose to buy tickets online enhancing the customer experience of using

Currently, more than one and a half million customers visit every week; this is twice the number that flies with us, and shows that customers see it as a major source of information.

British Airways have installed more than 200 self-service check-in kiosks at 39 major airports across the UK, Europe and at JFK airport in New York. Currently around 450,000 passengers a month use self-service check-in kiosks.

British Airways is continuing to move away from issuing paper tickets, and is striving to become an e-ticket airline. Currently 76 per cent of all journeys on British Airways are by passengers using e-tickets, an increase of 40 per cent from 2003. E-tickets can now be used on about 150 routes, or 70 per cent of the network, and more routes are being added each month.

British Airways has also added new types of tickets, which can be booked as e-tickets. In the last year the airline introduced e-tickets for routes of up to 16 consecutive sectors on British Airways (a process known as conjunction). Groups of more than nine travellers can also now use e-tickets.

Through the "Manage my booking" service, British Airways customers are now able to manage their own travel plans at every stage of their journey from the comfort of their own computer.

A host of Executive Club benefits are also available for loyal British Airways travellers in Uzbekistan.

British Airways is one of a number of European carriers that fly to Uzbekistan today and sees that number only growing. British Airways looks to expand an operation in line with the market's profitable growth in demand and the necessary regulatory approval.
